5th Grade: Monday March 30, 2020 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him, will have eternal life.” John 3:16 5th grade Math with Mrs. Chuhran: Corrections Supp.Prac. 91 sent in an email. Lesson 94 page 490. Read through the lesson and complete the Mixed Practice 1-30. Faith Formation:3/30/2020-4/3/2020- Due Friday 4/3/2020 Lesson 55 For what should we pray? P.116-117. “God Meets Our Needs” In each circle write a blessing you receive within that category. After read, Mark 2:1-12. Discuss the following question: 1.How did the 4 friends and the sick man know that Jesus could help? 2. What was the paralytic man’s biggest need? 3. How did Jesus meet the need? 4. What do you suppose the crowd was thinking? 5. What is our biggest need? How does Jesus meet that need? “Giving Thanks” : Read Ps. 92: 1-2. How do we respond to God’s generosity in our lives? We show thanks to God in 3 ways. (see page 117). Brainstorm ways in which you can give thanks. See directions on page 117. Consider committing the memory verse at the bottom to memory. Lesson 56 When should we pray? After reading the first paragraph at the top of page 118, consider this. The things that tempt us are not necessarily bad. For example, the devil tempted Jesus to turn stones into bread so HE could eat. Bread is not bad, but giving in to what the devil wants is. The devil was tempting Jesus to use His divine power for the wrong purpose. Draw a simple fish and a hook with a worm curled on it. Point out that the worm itself is not bad, but it is the temptation, the lure, the bait that encourages the fish to the hook, which is bad and results in bad consequences for the fish. The devil is very sneaky and clever. He doesn’t approach us directly, as he did with Jesus. Instead the devil tempts us with things around us in the world. He tempts us through people who lead us to do wrong. Often, the temptation comes right from our own thoughts, and feelings because of our sinful human nature.Fill examples of temptations. “When You Have Troubles around You (Evil in this World)”-Emphasise that problems are not caused by God, often they result from what we have done. See Romans 8:20-22. Have your child draw a circle around the harsh words on page 118. Title this circle “Our Environment” Ask how do we deal with these problems..(.you could add pandemics if you’d like. ) Answer: We don’t. God does. Page 119-Read Acts 12:1-16 together. Work through questions. Summary: God protected Peter from the doubts and despair that could have filled his heart and that could have led him to give up and no longer trust god. God led Peter away from those temptations and made him strong. God also protected him from the evil around him, rescuing him from ganger and returning him to his friends. Extension: Read Acts 12: 1-24. Consider the following words: injustice, contentment, miracle, surprise, joy, confusion, retribution, courage.. How are they represented in these verses? Journal Writing: Continue each day. Send me what you have been writing on Thursday 4/2/2020 Shurley: Writing Assignment 20 page 258.
